Thailand is ranking number 9 of automobile production worldwide (2013). In 2013 Thailand produced 2.45 million vehicles; 1.33 million for the domestic market and 1.12 million for exports. In 2014 there were 800.000 units of Domestic Car sales, for 2015 900.000 units of Domestic Car sales are expected.


Nearly half of the 100 biggest OEMs are producing in Thailand, e.g. Valeo, Michelin, TRW, 3M, Goodyear, GKN, Denso, Mitsuba, Mitsubishi, Omron, Sumitomo, Toyota, Boshoku, Hitachi, Bridgestone, Alpine and Pioneer. For Denso for example Thailand is the centre of its activities in the ASEAN market. Important investments from German companies have been realized so far by Continental , Brose, Robert Bosch, Dürr Lakiersysteme, ZF Lemforder, Henkel and lately by Schaeffler with a new production site in Chon Buri.
